Memories of Bungendore is a collection of oil paintings created over the Summer of 2023/4.
‘The works in this exhibition are inspired by my imagination and the memories that have stayed with me throughout my life’.
Growing up in the Bungendore district, my earliest memories are of sitting on the earth drawing with a stick, riding the landscape on horseback, mustering cattle, catching the bus to school on frosty mornings, walking and picnicking in the paddocks and swimming in dams. Watching the seasons change the landscape through the cycles of drought, plagues and floods was fundamental in shaping my deep connection to nature and my creative life.
These paintings hope to connect the viewer with the natural world and evoke feelings of peace, mystery and wonder.
Penelope believes ‘through strengthening our connection with nature, we will want to protect and look after this vulnerable and precious Earth’.
