Paintings - 2019 to 2021
These paintings tell the story of my journey over the past three years.
The soft muted pink paintings were painted around our home adjoining the Nattai National Park in the Southern Highlands of NSW, Gundungurra Land. A particularly devastating time as I watched bush fires rage, the land turn to dust, ash and burnt leaves litter the ground, the sky and horizon disappeared as smoke filled the air and shed pink muted tones across the land.
‘A Storm is Coming’ is a painting about new hope. Arriving in the Northern Rivers has given me the opportunity to paint the sea and land where the colours are vivid and the views endless. Becoming familiar with this ancient sacred Bundjalung Land has opened my eyes to exotic introduced subtropical plants and views of waterways that lead to the Pacific Ocean.
